Wall Thinning Assessment for Ferromagnetic Plate with Pulsed Eddy Current Testing Using Analytical Solution Decoupling Method

The wall-thinning measurement of ferromagnetic plates covered with insulations and claddings is a main challenge in petrochemical power generation industries. Pulsed eddy current testing (PECT) considered as promising method. However, the accuracy limited due to interference factors such lift-off cladding. In this study, by decoupling analytic solution, feature only sensitive plate thickness proposed. Based on electromagnetic waves reflection transmission theory, cladding-induced firstly decoupled from analytical model. Moreover, using first integral mean value theorem, interferences insulation are decoupled, too. Hence, method proposed calculating Euclidean distances between normalized detection signal reference assess wall thinning. Its effectiveness under various conditions examined results show that thickness. Finally, experiment carried verify practicable.
